Jordan Bak's debut album Impulse is a contemplative insight into the concept of the present moment told through the soundwaves of the viola. Space, pulse & the illusion of time are encapsulated in compositions of the now, music by Tōru Takemitsu, Tyson Gholston Davis, Joan Tower, Quinn Mason, Jeffrey Mumford, Rebecca Clarke, & Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti. In this new musical landscape Bak takes a diverse array of sounds created by a wide demographic of composers, and offers a thought-provoking open-ended perspective on contemporary music written for an imperfect instrument.
