The weeklies
Comprised of Jonathan Miron, violin; Jordan Dodson, guitar; & Louis Levitt, double bass (of Sybarite5) The Weeklies is a creative outlet born of need to expand and experiment with new combinations of sounds and forms.
Individually the musicians of The Weeklies have graced the world’s most prestigious traditional concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, 92nd street Y, & The Library of Congress, and also appeared perform at NYC venues like National Sawdust, LPR, & the Musuem of Sex. Now they are embarking on a musical journey together for the first time as The Weeklies.
Performing original compositions alongside the music of Piazzolla, Djanjo Reinhardt, and works from some of today’s most vibrant composers like Marc Mellits & Sergio Assad The Weeklies is breaking molds and changing perceptions to creating new paths for what is possible for 21st century acoustic concert music.
JONATHAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING THIS TRIO TOGETHER AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, BLAME HIM.
Jonathan & Jordan met at an embarrassing wanna be start up called “Beat Matches” which was like speed dating for classical musicians. This start up did not go well and folded in 2016, but J&J became friends and started playing music together.
Louis & Jonathan first met at Yo-Yo Ma’s Global Musician Workshop in 2017 under the direction of Mike Block.
Jonathan went through ~127 bass players and finally heard Louis and said to himself “that guy kinda has his sh-t together.” At that moment Jonathan knew he should introduce Jordan & Louis to jam and start something new. I mean what did he have to lose?
