Michael Touchi - Arranger
Composer, keyboard player and reed doubler, Michael Touchi has written 22 works for SJCO, including audience favorites Tango Barroco, Tango Moresque, a suite of holiday reflections, and the most recent Fantasia in Klezmer for soloists Jon Nakatmatsu and Alex Manasse. He frequently performs with San José Chamber Orchestra where he holds the position of Creative Consultant, helping to shape the orchestra's unique musical personality.
Michael has performed for many years with Symphony Silicon Valley, Fremont Symphony, TheatreWorks, and Best of Broadway San Francisco and San José, and can be heard on the cast recording of Baz Luhrmann’s production of La Boheme and the 2006 revival cast recording of A Chorus Line. A native of San José, he received his B.A. in music performance from San José State University, having studied bassoon with Vernon Read and composition with Brent Heisinger. He has held the position of organist/pianist for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Saratoga, CA for 30 years.
