PUBLIQuartet

On May 3, 2019, Bright Shiny Things released the second album from intrepid string quartet PUBLIQuartet, winner of Chamber Music America’s 2019 Visionary Award. The album, Freedom & Faith (BSTC-0126), features artists whose music represents resilience, resistance, and subversion; all of them also happen to be women. The album repertoire comprises music from two of PUBLIQuartet’s signature initiatives: MIND | THE | GAP, collaborative compositions and improvisations by the four members of the group; and PUBLIQ Access (PQA), a genre-independent program that commissions new works for string quartet by emerging composers living within the U.S. Running through the entire album is the spirit of collaboration and spontaneity that embodies PUBLIQuartet’s mission.
